About us

The family behind the wandering — and the dog who started it all.

Southern roots, callused hands, and a serious case of the travel bug.

Our Sabre 5th wheel set up at a shaded campsite

We're James and Mallory. James grew up in Florida, Mallory in Alabama, and after a few years of life taking us through Georgia and back to Florida, we finally planted our flag in Alabama in 2019. These days we're raising our little girl, wrangling a few horses on our farm, and — whenever we get the chance — hitching up the 5th wheel and hitting the road.

We're not your typical RV family

Between the two of us, we've got a pretty wide skill set. Mallory works in the medical field. James comes from a background in mechanics and roadside tech and has tackled more hobbies than we can count. Together we've taken on home remodels, farm life, and pretty much anything else that needed figuring out. We'd rather learn how something works than call someone else to fix it.

That attitude carries over into how we camp. We don't just show up and plug in — we want to understand our rig, maintain it well, and make the most of every trip.

From tents to a 5th wheel

We've been camping together since 2007 and got our first pull-behind camper in 2016, working our way up through a series of campers. In 2025 we made the move we'd been eyeing for a while — a Sabre 36FLX 5th wheel. It's been a game changer. Our daughter gets her own room, the dogs have space to stretch out, and we finally have a setup that fits our whole family comfortably on the road.

The name

Meet Willow

Wandering Willow is named after one of our dogs, Willow — who has never once turned down a road trip and acts like every campground is the greatest place she's ever been. She pretty much embodies how we feel about getting outside, so it felt right.

Why we take this seriously

The Hurricane Michael story

When Michael hit, our camper stopped being a vacation toy. For 11 days without power it was how we cooked, stayed cool, had running water, and helped neighbors. It changed how we think about RV ownership: it's about resilience.

Wandering Willow RV is for families like ours — people who work hard, love their kids and their dogs, and want to make the most of the time they get away. Whether you're shopping for your first camper, planning a family road trip, or figuring out what to pack, we've probably made the mistake already so you don't have to.
